A Review of the New York School's Cultural Criticism

纽约学派是指20世纪30年代末期至50年代中期,一批活跃在美国最重要的文化中心之一纽约、聚集在美国现代文坛影响最大的学术刊物之一《党派评论》周围的文学批评家群体。这些纽约批评家以其坚守的一种与众不同的文化批评事业,形成了一个与美国新批评派并存的批评家集群。关于纽约学派的研究,既是对美国新批评派的共时研究,也是对西方文学批评思想的进一步考察。

The New York School is a group of literary critics who gathered around one of the most influential academic journals in modern American literature,Partisan Review,from the late 1930s to the mid-1950s in New York,one of the most important cultural centers in America.These critics clung to a cause of cultural criticism different from other contemporary tendencies and formed a clique coexisting with the New Criticism in America.Therefore,the study on the New York School also serve as a synchronic analysis of the American New Criticism and a further investigation on western literary criticism.
