Straying into the World of Lonely Experiences——On the Solitude and Absurdness in Pirandello's and Kafka's Works

20世纪初叶,世界文坛涌现出了大量的具有荒诞审美特征的现代主义作家,使"孤独"和"荒诞"成为这一时期众多文学作品的代言词。意大利剧作家皮兰德娄和奥地利的小说家卡夫卡就是这一时期的杰出代表,他们都对人生存在现代世界内心的空虚感和孤独感、自我与现实的格格不入做了很好的阐释,本文意在通过分析两位作家的一些代表作品,来比较他们创作风格的相似之处,从而进一步阐明孤独性和荒诞性的深层内涵。

At the beginning of 20th century,there appear many modernistic writers with absurdist aesthetic characteristics in the literary arena,making solitude and absurdness the symbolic theme in literary works of that period.Among many others,Italian dramatist Luigi Pirandello and Austrian novelist Kafka are the stellar representative.Their works well illustrate people＇s feeling of unreality and loneliness surviving in modern society,and portray the misfit of individuals and reality.This paper aims at clarifying the deeper connotations of loneliness and absurdness by analyzing their representative works and the similarities of their styles.
