During the democratic period Mao Zedong attached great importance to the need for the reform of intellectuals.He believes that,to properly handle the relationship between the Party and the intellectuals,and to reform intellectuals,we must fully understand the need for intellectual transformation,which could be determined by the status,ideological state,and the role of intellectuals in the decision.Mao Zedong＇s thought on the necessity of intellectual transformation during the Period of Democratic Revolution greatly inspired the enthusiasm and initiative of the intellectuals,promoted the vigorous development of various undertakings,laid the foundation for the Party＇s right decision on the policy for intellectuals after founding PRC,and greatly enriched the treasure house of Marxist-Leninist theory of intellectuals.
