DMA (Direct Memory Access) operation can be realized in a single-chip microcomputer based system by utilizing the idle state of CHMOS chip of MCS-51 family combined with the feature of DMA controller (Z80-DMA). The hardware and software for DMA in a high speed data acquisition system are discussed.
