大众语运动是五四白话文运动之后的一场文学语言变革运动。运动的发起者虚设了一个文言、白话、大众语的"进化"图景。然而,正如大众是知识分子对自身之外特定人群的想象的产物一样,大众语和大众语文学也只不过是知识分子所建构的语言、文学乌托邦。

Mass language movement was a reform in literary language after the May 4th vernacular movement.The initiators of the movement fictionalized an ＂evolutional＂ prospect of classic Chinese,vernacular and mass language.However,just as mass was intellectuals＇ imaginary product of specified crowd except themselves,mass language and mass literature were only language,literary Utopia constructed by them.
