英文报纸国际政治新闻报道中的名词化研究

Explorations into Nominalization in International Political News Reports in English Newspapers

名词化结构是系统功能语言学中语法隐喻的一个重要特征。根据韩礼德13种语法隐喻中的5种名词化结构,以随机选取的25篇英文报纸国际政治新闻报道为研究对象,通过对名词化的出现频率及特征进行分析和统计,我们发现:动词名词化出现频率最高,主要是因为其可以实现新闻语篇的简洁化、客观化、正式化和语义扩张的功能;形容词名词化出现频率次之,主要实现客观化和简洁化的功能;介词名词化、连词名词化及无人称形式转换为个体名词化的出现频率极少。

Nominalization is one of the essential characteristics of grammatical metaphor in systemic-functional linguistics.Halliday classifies grammatical metaphor into thirteen types,five of which are nominalizations.A statistical analysis of the distribution and features of five types of nominalization in 25 international political news reports in English newspapers,which are chosen at random,is conducted in this paper.The statistical results reveal that the nominalization of verbs occurs the most frequently to perform the function of conciseness,objectivity,formality and semantic expansion;the nominalization of adjectives occurs less frequently mainly to perform the function of objectivity and conciseness;and the nominalization of prepositions,conjunctions and ＂zero＂ occurs rarely.
