现代文明人矛盾心态的形象显现——试论果戈理《旧式地主》双重内蕴

A Picture of Contradictory Psychology of the Modern People——on the Double Connotations in Gogol's Old Fashioned Landlords

《旧式地主》具有颇为丰富的双重内蕴:隐约表现了死水一潭的平庸生活让人变得微不足道甚至渺小卑贱;主要赞美了旧式地主夫妇的单纯、善良,热情好客,相亲相爱,充满温情以及那种人与自然、人与人之间的和平、宁静的自然生活。这是现代文明人一种典型的矛盾心态:一方面渴望回归自然,希望有和谐宁静的近乎自然的生活以及和谐、相亲相爱、只记挂着对方的人间温情;另一方面又希望建功立业,扬名于世,超越别人,战胜死亡,因而否定这种真正无为、顺应自然的生活。

There are rich double connotations in Gogol＇s novel Old Fashioned Landlords： representing people＇s negligibility and humbleness in their flat and dull life;expressing appreciation for the landlords＇ simplicity,kindness,hospitableness,love and their harmonious and peaceful life.Such a portray is a typical reflection of the contradictory psychology of the modern civilized people.On the one hand,they long for returning to the nature,hoping to live a kind of natural,harmonious,affectionate and simple life;on the other hand,they go far away from such life because of their eagerness of being successful,famous,prominent and immortal.
