我们怀着尊敬与怀念的心情,纪念数学家吴新谋教授诞生80周年暨逝世一周年. 吴新谋,1910年4月14日生于江苏省江阴县,1932年毕业于原中央大学数学系,大学期间在高等代数、几何与分析方面受业于何鲁先生.1934—1937年任清华大学数学系助教,并在熊庆来先生指导下研习微分方程论。1937年公费留学法国,先从师H·维拉(Villat)研究粘性流体力学,后转随J·阿达玛(Hadamard)从事偏微分方程论研究。侨居法国期间。
This commemorative paper is concerned with a brief outline of Prof.Ou Singmo's life; a review of Ou's research work on the theory of partial differential equations (including both his individual contributions and the directions advocated by him) ; and an account of Ou's scientific activities of far-reaching iufluence for building up Chinese contingent of research workers in the field of P.D.E..In general, It gives a picture of Ou's endeavour and merit in establishment and development of P.D.E, researches in the People's Republic of China.
