The cometassay,also called single cell gel eleetrophoresis（SCGE）,is a sensitive,quick and cheap microscopic method to detect and quantitate DNA damage in cells.The cometassay has been used in different fields,including genetic toxicology,environmental monitoring,cell apoptosis and so on in the past few years.This paper provides an overview and information related to the principle,evaluation index,modifying factor and the application.
