The Comment on Liang Shuming's cultural philosophy——both modern and conservative

梁漱溟文化哲学是一种现代性与保守性兼备的体系。从梁漱溟赞同并参与新文化运动,肯认西方的民主与科学,批判东西调和的文化观,认真检讨中国传统文化,特别是他以敏锐的心灵发现新文化运动中民族虚无主义和全盘西化论存在的问题,可以说他的文化哲学具有现代性和进步性。但是由于他所持的中体西用的思维模式,使他的文化观具有保守性并成为保守派所欢迎的学说。

Liang Shuming＇ s cultural philosophy is a system which has the cha conservative both modern and the character of modernity and conservativeness. Liang Shuming approved and participated in the New Culture Movement. He was willing to endore Western democracy and science and criticised the the cultural view which conciliates the oriental and western culture. Mr Lang earnestly reviewed the traditional Chinese culture, especially he observantly found that there existed the national nihilism and indiscriminate westernization theory in the New Culture Movement. So we may say that his cultural philosophy has the modernity and progressive. But he holds the thinking mode of westernized chinese style,which makes his viewpoints conservative and easily accepted by conservatives.
