摘要
凯特.肖邦(Kate Chopin)的最后一部小说《觉醒》中的女主角埃德娜.庞德烈(Edna Pontellier)在经历了精神和肉体的双重觉醒后,选择了与另两位角色阿黛尔.拉蒂诺尔(Adele Ratignoll)和莱兹小姐(Ma-demoiselle Reisz)截然不同的生活之路。通过分析埃德娜的双重觉醒,并比较三位女性的人生选择的不同之处,指出在当时社会条件下,投入大海怀抱是埃德娜最后必然选择。
Edna Pontellier is the heroine of Kate Chopin＇s last novel The Awakening.After awakening psychologically and physically,she chooses her own way,being different from those of Adele Ratignoll and Mademoiselle Reisz.The essay tries to analyze Edna＇s awakening and to compare the differences of life choices among Edna,Adele and Reisz,pointing out that under the social condition of that time,it was inevitable for Edna to kill herself in the sea.
