For the purpose of evaluating the progress of pollution control measures,an ecological model has been set up in the study area.Main variables such as total nitrogen, total phosphorus, dissolved oxygen, biological oxygen demand, chlorophyll and algae biomass were included in the modelling. The observations in terms of hydrology, water quality and biology in the year 2008 were used to modelling calibration and validation. Furthermore, the model was applied to the simulation of overall effects of proposed pollution control scenarios. The modelling result was in good coincidence with the observations. It has been found that the pollutant concentrations and chlorophyll a level in the water susceptible to algal blooming would reduce significantly following the implementation of measures such as the operation of water treatment facilities and the groundwater recharge.
