Nanling Corridor and the Yao Ethnic Studies——An Interview with Anthropologists(57)

南岭走廊是中国瑶族人口和瑶族族群分布较多的地区,对分布在这一带的瑶族进行全面系统的调查研究,对研究瑶族的形成、瑶族与其他民族的关系以及中华民族多元一体格局的形成都有极为重要的学术价值。目前,瑶学研究取得了令人瞩目的成就,无论是在广度上,还是在深度上,都达到了前所未有的水平。但由于瑶族支系众多,居住分散,社会经济发展较缓慢且不平衡等原因,影响了瑶学研究的进一步深化。今后,瑶学研究要抓好学科建设与学术队伍建设,抓好基础研究与现实研究,积极开展跨国跨文化的对话。

Nanling Corridor is an area where a large population of the Yao people are inhabited.A comprehensive investigation and study of the Yao people distributed along this corridor is of great academic significance for the studies on the formation of the Yao Ethnic Group,its relationship with other ethnic groups,and the integration of the multiple Chinese ethnic groups.Nowadays,the Yao ethnic studies have witnessed outstanding achievements and reached an unprecedented level in terms of width and depth.However,further studies are impeded by the facts that the Yao Ethnic Group has many branches and is scattered in different areas,and that their social and economic development is rather slow and imbalanced.In the future Yao ethnic studies,efforts should be made in strengthening discipline construction and academic team building,enhancing basic and applied research,and actively conducting trans-national and trans-cultural dialogues.
