摘要
Light metals play an increasingly important role characteristics such as light weight, high specific in the 21 st century. In addition to their intrinsic strength and stiffness, their high recycle ability is important characteristics contributing to significant reductions in the environmental burdens. In order to make full use of their properties in the transportation, electronics and construction industries, new technologies are necessary. These can provide effective modifications and developments in regard to up-stream and down-stream processing. The three most widely used light metals are aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys and titanium alloys. There are numerous challenges in regard to new alloy design, innovative and environmentally friendly new process technologies, optimal design, highly efficient recycling technology and so forth. Furthermore, new in-depth science is also to be cultivated to search for new features and applications for the light metals.
