Interface between lexicon and syntax:A perspective of case

摘要结构格向下连接词汇层,向上又是句法的表征。同样,语义格和θ角色向下连接词汇层,但向上只能通达D结构,经过转换可以通达结构格或词序关系,再向上通达句法层。管约论阶段的抽象格是结构格的第一次抽象,最简方案的抽象格是结构格的第二次抽象。和语义格、θ角色和结构格"从下到上"的功能实现不同,两种抽象格的功能是"从上到下"的过程,即体现为对转换过程的驱动,但同样不能通达词汇层。在五种格中,只有结构格能够贯通词汇层和句法层,其特殊地位源于它的抽象程度介于语义格和抽象格之间,介于词汇层和句法层之间,也介于语义和语法之间。 Structural case connects lexicon downward and syntax upward.Semantic case and θ role also connect lexicon downward,but they stop at the D structure where transformations are undergone before they reach syntax.The Abstract Case in the early GB stage is the first abstraction of the structural case,the second occurring at the MP stage.Unlike semantic case,θ role and the structural case which function upward,the two Abstract Cases both function downward and motivate transformations,but neither reaches the bottom level,i.e.lexicon.The special status of the structural case is caused by the intermediate degree of abstractness between the two semantic cases and the two Abstract Cases,between lexicon and syntax,and between semantics and grammar.
