On October 11 2010,Joan Sutherland's family announced that she had died at her home near Montreux,Switzerland the previous day.Antonio Pappano,music director of the Royal Opera House, described her as 'one of the true greats.' Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballe once declared that the Sutherland's voice was 'just like heaven.'
