Wang Chuanfu,Chairman of the board and President of BYD Company Limited.(BYD),is known for his unusual operation strategies,which has created the miracle of BYD auto as well as the current crisis.Starting as a handset and battery manufacturer,BYD shifted to automobile sector and realized doubled growth each year.It self-supplies most of the opponents,and different from traditional auto companies,BYD uses labor and machines instead of fullautomation product lines.Besides,it assigned thousands of managers to stores,directing or even participating in the operation of its distributors,which led to large-scales of disputes in its sales network and frequent price wars.Since the third quarter of this year,BYD seemed to have touched a limit.Distributors quit to selling BYD vehicles and its net profits of the quarter dropped by 99%,only 1% of that of the same period of last year.That's a sharp contrast to its outstanding performance in the year before.Wang soon saw the mistakes and adjusted his expectation.BYD cut sales managers from October and decreased its inventory.Though this will greatly affect its sales,BYD's strategies in sales,production and logistics are worthy of research.
