Western green trends of thought concluded that it is impossible to develop an ecologic civilization theory based on historical materialism.As a response to this conclusion,ecological Marxism analyzes the concept of historical materialism about dominating nature and the question of whether we should admit the ultimate limits of nature,establishes the internal relationships between historical materialism and ecology,and forms an ecologic civilization theory unifying three dimensions of the critique of institution,the critique of value,and the critique of technology.This essay analyzes the inspirations of ecological Marxism,and brings forward its initiative conceptions on how to reasonably account for Marx's ecologic civilization theory.
