加拿大Suncor能源有限公司拟投资22亿加元，对现有的油砂矿进行扩建，使矿山生产能力提高一倍以上，作为扩建项目的申请文件之一，该公司必须提交一份详尽的矿山闭坑复垦计划书，其中必须对拟开发的矿区、计划中的开发活动以及公司在维持矿山正常生产的同时恢复地貌和重建生态系统的目标进行系统的评价。在矿山生产期间，只要可能，应尽早完成地貌测绘、复土和植被工作，也应尽早恢复地表排水系统和湿洼地带。一旦积极的复垦和植被工作完成后，Suncor公司将对复垦区的土壤熟化和生态系统进行监测，为申请复垦证书提供依据。
Suncor Energy Inc.has proposed a 2.2 billion dollar expansion to the current oil sands operation ,which will more than double the productive capability of the facility.As part of the application for this expansion,a comprehensive closure plan had to be developed and filed. Closure planning inchudes a systematic eveluation of the area to be developed,the development activities planned. the goals and objectives of the corporation in re-establishing landforms and ecosystems at the same time as running an effective operation.As early as practical during the mine development, surface contouring is completed, soil is reconstructed, and vegetaion, surface drainage and wetlands are re-established. Once active reclamation is complete and vegetation has been re-established, Suncor monitors maturation of landscapes and ecosystems to provide the submission basis for reclamation certification.
