中国教育史上出现的第一所高等师范──京师优级师范学堂是中国近代维新变法的少有成果，它的产生与发展反映了中国近代师范教育的成长过程，其校舍建筑吸取了西方建筑经验，进行了有益的探索，成为北京近代学校建筑的历史遗存之一．值得给予应有的重视和保存。

The first higher teachers' training in educaticonal history of China, the college of top teachers' training of Capital, was the great achievement of constitutional Reform and Modernization (1898) in China modern history. The fundation anddevelopment of colIege reflected the growing process of teacher training education in China modern history. The college buildings absobed the experience of western architecture and carryed out a useful exploration.They become one of the examples of modern school buiIding in Beijing. It is necessery and proftable for us to reseach and preserve these historicaI buildings.
