摘要
《红楼梦十二支曲》以丰富的象征内涵、文化典故以及精致独特的诗歌语言和艺术形式取得了高超艺术成就,也就给翻译家们带来了巨大的挑战。作为诗歌翻译的必要过程,译者的补偿与创造为读者尽可能地接近原作提供了可能。霍克斯和杨宪益夫妇均创造性地采取了文外直接补偿和文内间接补偿两种补偿方法,在弥补原文的损失、达成原著与译著的平衡方面做出了巨大的贡献。
Dream of Red Mansion Songs has demonstrated great artistic achievements by its rich symbolic meanings,cultural connotations,its delicate poetic language and artistic form,consequently presenting a great challenge to its translators.As an indispensable step in poetry translation,the translator's compensation and creativity provides the means for the readers to reach the original as closely as possible.David Hawkes, Yang Xianyi and his wife Gladys Yang both creatively chose direct compensation outside the text and indirect compensation inside the text in their translation process,thus reaching the balance between the original and the translated version.
