作为"五四"时期的重要小说家,台静农在台湾后半生的文化活动与早年截然不同,但依然体现出鲜明的"五四"传统,这与其早年在北大国学门求学时受到的学术、教学风气的熏陶有着密切关系。这一段经历不仅培养了台静农对传统文化的浓厚兴趣,更对其现代治学眼光、自由宽容教风的形成有着重要影响,并深刻体现在其执掌台湾大学中文系期间的学术研究、系务规划以及诗文创作中,构成"五四"精神在战后台湾的一种流脉。

As an important novelist in the May Fourth Movement,Tai Jingnong＇s cultural activity in his latter half of life in Taiwan was different form his early years,but still inherited ＂May Fourth ＂ tradition,which was closely related to the influence of academic,teaching and learning atmosphere on him when he studied at Beijing University.This period not only developed Tai Jingnong＇s interest in traditional Chinese culture,but also had great influence on his modern scholarly research spirit and free and tolerant teaching style.This influence was later embodied in Tai Jingnong＇s academic research,department planning and poem writing when he was in the Department of Taiwan University,which consists an important composition of ＂May Fourth＂ spirit in post-war Taiwan.
