On Metaphors in College English Teaching

隐喻作为最常见的一种比喻方式，是与生命同源同位的有机体，其本质就是用人们所熟悉的一种事物去理解和经历较陌生的另一种事物。隐喻具有普遍性和文化性的特点，在教学中如果教师能充分利用隐喻，将会给教学带来很大的启发性，提高学生学习英语的效率。本文重点讨论大学英语词汇教学和阅读教学中的隐喻教学。

Metaphor, as the most common figure of speech, is an analogy of life, and its very nature is that by using familiar things to understand and experience strange things. Metaphor has universal and cultural characteristics; so in English teaching, if teacher could make full use of metaphor, it will bring a lot of inspiration to the teaching and enhance study efficiency. The paper focuses on metaphors in the college English vocabulary teaching and the college English reading teaching.
