美国的“一个中国”政策

On the US "One China" Policy

自1972年尼克松访华以来,美国在台海奉行的＂一个中国＂政策归纳起来就是：对台湾主权＂不采取立场＂,对台湾的安全作出承诺和对台军售;奉行所谓的＂三不＂政策,要求中国放弃对台用武和寻求和平解决台湾问题;反对任何一方单方面改变台海现状;支持台湾的民主化;支持台湾拓展国际空间。美国的＂一个中国＂政策看似模糊,但实质非常清晰,那就是不愿看到两岸朝着统一的方向发展。美国的这一政策将是长期的,我们今后在相当长时期内还要与这样的＂一中＂政策打交道。

Since President Nixon's visit to China in 1972,the US government has followed a 'One China' policy toward both sides of the Taiwan Strait.That policy can boil down to 'taking no position' on Taiwan's sovereignty,making commitments to Taiwan's security and arms sales to Taiwan,pursuing the so-called 'Three Noes' policy,requesting China to forsake the use of force while seeking for peaceful resolution of the Taiwan Question,opposing unilateral change of the status quo by either side,supporting Taiwan's democratization and expansion of its international space.The 'One China' policy seems to be vague,but in essence it is clear-cut,that is,the United States does not want to see the two sides of the Taiwan Strait moving in the direction of unification.It will be a long-term policy,with which we will have to deal for a rather long period of time in future.
