Nowadays in China,the planning and design of the residential quarter generally focus only on the construction of the physical environment such as the graceful of the garden scene,but ignore the residents＇ behavioral factors and psychological needs.Specifically,the residential quarter＇s design is lack of recognition and a sense of belonging and only has the monotonous space without the humane touch.So it is difficult to form the rich flavor of life and emotional atmosphere in the residential quarter.The paper analyses the significance of the planning and design of the sentient residential quarter,and discusses the principles and elements of its design.
