【Objective】 To investigate the distribution and morphological changes of LYVE-1+ cells in developing mouse kidneys.【Methods】 The mouse kidneys from embryonic day 13 (E13) to E16,from neonates at pup day 1 (P1) to P21 and adults were vibratomed, then LYVE-1 immunostained and immunefluorescent stained.【Results】 LYVE-1+ cells appeared firstly in the medulla at the E13 stage and the number increased gradually until P4,then reduced and disappeared completely at P21.These cells had several thick irregular shaped cytoplasmic processes, which decreased gradually in thickness but increased in length after birth. These cells were macrophage approved by immunofluorescence.【Conclusion】 LYVE-1+ cells were macrophage and these cells may be associated with devolopment of intrarenal lymphatic vessels.
