Shale gas is an important kind of unconventional natural gas resources.In recent years,shale gas industry booms in the U.S.It is changing the pattern of natural gas supply,and could affect the overall energy situation in the U.S.and even the whole world in the future.Besides,many other countries such as Canada,China,and Australia are paying much attention to it.This paper mainly discusses the resource potential and development status of global shale gas,the promoting factors and barriers of shale gas development in the U.S.,and major development indicators of Barnett shale gas.
