也谈“不说”句——与李宗江先生商榷

On the Sentence Pattern of "不说(bushuo)"

关联词"不说"既有动词义也有关联义;从外部特征看,"不说"句分为五种形式,用于前分句的末尾时意义完全虚化。"不说"句内部有选择、递进、让步等语义关系,外部有因果关系;具有侧重与强调、收束与过渡、比较与衬托、陈述与评价等语用功能。

The conjunctive word ＂不说 （bushuo）＂, meaning not to say in English, implicates the meaning of a verb as well as the meaning of a conjunctive. Externally, the sentence pattern of ＂不说（bush- uo）＂ can be divided into five forms. When it is used at the end of the first clause in a sentence, the meaning of the word is totally weakened. Internally, it conveys alternative relation, progressive relation, concessional relation and some other semantic relations. The relation of cause and effect is also existed in the structure of the sentence. Pragmatically speaking, it functions as emphasis, transition, contract, foil, statement and evaluation and so on.
