The earliest vestige of planting teas, which has been confirmed by some steles,in mountainous areas in southern Linhai City,Gaizhu Cave was once called the "Ge Seno Tea Garden" of the famed Taoist Ge Xuan in late Eastern Han Dynasty. This piece of anecdote was derived from the famous work Bao Pu Zi which was written by Ge Xuan's grandnephew Ge Hong, and it was also recorded in Jia Ding Chi Cheng Zhi in Song Dynasty. There was a celebrated historian and geologist called Qi Zhaonan in Qing Dynasty, whose bequeathal stele proves Linhai has a tea history of more than 1800 years since "Ge Seno Planting teas".Tea culture does have a long history indeed since tea was one of the tributes for emperors in both Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, while today Linhai is a nationally famous tea-producing area.
