Objective To investigate the value of bispectral index(BIS) monitorin g in predicting coma degree and prognosis of comatose patients. Methods Thirty-f ive comatose patients whose Glasgow coma scales(GCS) ≤7 were selected from ICU. The record GCS,GCS-Pittsburgh and BIS at the same time within 24 hs after coma were recorded, the prognosis was observed for 6 months. The correlation between BIS and GCS,GCS-Pittsburgh,prognosis were analyzed by Spearman correlation ana lytical method. Results BIS was positively related to GCS and GCS-Pittsburgh(P 0.01),value of r were 0.820 and 0.873 respectively.BIS in patients with good p rognosis was higher than that with poor prognosis(P0.01).Conclusion BIS monito ring has significant value in evaluating the comatose degree and prognosis of co matose patients.
