从苔丝形象看哈代的女性观

Hardy's View on Women by the Image of Tess

作为十九世纪后期英国批判现实主义文学的杰出代表,哈代的创作穿梭在传统与现代之间。试以《德伯家的苔丝》中的苔丝形象为例来解析哈代的女性观:一方面具有明确的女性意识,肯定了女性对爱情的追求和内在的反抗性,另一方面又未能完全摆脱男权文化的束缚,显示出矛盾性的特征。

As one of the representatives of English critic realism at the turn of the 19th century,Hardy＇s works are a mixture of modern and tradition.Hardy＇s view on women is analyzed by the image of Tess in the novel Tess of the D＇Urbervilles,which is contradictory in that he,on the one hand,showed a clear female consciousness and on the other,approved women＇s pursuit of love and inner resistance,but he didn＇t shatter the fetter of male-dominated culture.
