The Historical Change of Chinese Word Order and Its Impact on Verb Grammaticalization

在汉语发展史上,动词语法化的发生、发展和改变往往与特定的语序背景存在密切的联系。汉语的SVO语序以及PP的句法位序,都关涉到动词的线性位置,而后者又制约着动词自身语法化的性质、途径和方式。文章从SVO语序、PPV优势语序和VPP语序的衰落三个方面对此进行了论述。

In the history of Chinese language, the development and change of verb grammaticalization have close ties with a particular background of word order. SVO word order and PP syntactic rank in Chinese, all concern the position of verbs, and the latter, by contrast, constraints the nature and means of the grammaticalization of verbs. The present article discusses the topic from three aspects： the SVO word order, PPV word order and the decline of VPP word order.
