Drama Stylistics begins from description and analyses of internal linguistic features such as the phonological, lexical and syntactic features and has developed into interpretative studies aiming at dramatic discourse-pragmatics. It has now em- barked on the examination of the cognitive process for the discourse-pragmatic effects through dramatic text reading. Literary pragmatics, the proper orientation for drama stylistics, highlights the social discourse of literary work, together with the interactive process of its writing and reading. It should interpret, internally, the aspects of reference, implicature, speech acts, discourse structure etc and the external social-cultural and aesthetic communication effects between the author and the readers. The paper concludes by proposing a framework of multi-layered discourse-pragmatic analysis for drama text, so as to hunt for the richness, intricacies and complexities involved in interpretation of drama texts.
