摘要
对于《说文段注》"相"解释为"质"的意义,历代皆存在不同看法。段氏引毛传云:"相,质也。"而段氏所举的两个例子中"金玉其相"的"相"当是"外貌、相貌"的意思,而不是一般所认为的"质地、实质";"考慎其相"的"相"乃是"辅相"意思。虽然段玉裁等人对"相,质也"的理解有失偏颇,但段氏对词义引申的探讨和词义引申的规律总结却是卓有成效的。从他对"相"词义的进一步阐述中,我们可以发现段氏已形成了自己独特的引申义阐释条例,构成了一个内部系统。
There have been different opinions on "xiang" meaning "zhi" in Shuo Wen Duan Zhu. Duan has quoted the explanation from Mao Chuanyun: "xiang" means "zhi". However, in the two examples given by Duan, "xiang" in "jin yu qi xiang" means "appearance" instead of "texture" and "essence"; "xiang" in "kao shen qi xiang" means "assisting prime minister". Though Duan has a misunderstanding of the character "xiang", he has made a great contribution to the research on extension of meaning and its rules. From his further explanation, we can find that Duan has developed his unique explanatory ordinance and formed an internal system.
