Seek and You Will Find It Let Go and You Will Lose It——Exploring the Confucian Approach to Human Dignity

人的普遍尊严概念被作为人权的概念基础,但它本身却包含着两个两难困境。儒家有关人的价值的论述,通过将人的尊严看作是成就,而非简单的自然馈赠,避免了上述困境,开通了人的基本尊严与其他尊严之间的联系,并超出了作为责任的道德,进入了创造艺术人生的境界。

The concept of universal human dignity（Menschenwürde）has served as the foundation of human rights.However it entails two dilemmas：Through articulating the Confucian views about human worth,the author argues that the Confucian approach to human dignity contains a sound alternative：By taking human dignity as an achievement rather than simply given,Confucianism is able to resolve the dilemmas,open up a continuum from basic human dignity to other forms of dignity,and move beyond moral duties to the realm of creating artistic human life.
