石涛“一画”论及其英译问题

Shi Tao's "Yihua" and Its English Translation

异质文化的交流是创新的重要基础,阐释当下艺术作品的需要是理论创新的最大推动力。因此用中国17世纪的绘画理论,来探讨西方现代艺术的价值,是十分困难但却值得做的尝试。通过把石涛的"一画"译为"Oneing",对英文中原来没有的概念进行创新式的翻译,或能为西方现代艺术的阐释带来一些启发。

The communication with the heterogeneous culture serves as the important foundation for innovation and the need for interpreting the present artistic works becomes the greatest driving force. Therefore, though difficult, it is a valuable experiment to explore the value of Western modern art with China＇ s painting theory of the 17^th century. The English translation of ＂Yihua＂ into ＂Oneing＂, with the innovative interpretation of the concept which is not existent in English, may have some implications for understanding Western modern art.
