摘要
福克纳小说《押沙龙,押沙龙!》主要通过基于对话关系的人物话语叙述,为我们同时展开了两条相互独立的故事线索:一条是关于萨德本及其家人的生活,另一条则是关于试图解释萨德本故事的人物的行为。诸多叙述要素在不同层面构成的组合与人物话语叙述的非现实语境,不仅使这部小说成为一个错综复杂的难解之谜,而且也赋予了它一种独特的艺术魅力。
By using characters' speech narratives,Faulkner simultaneously presents two independent clues in his novel Absalom,Absalom!.One is about the life of Sutpen and his family,and the other about the behaviors of the character narrators who attempt to interpret Sutpen's story.The interweaving of various narrative elements at different levels and the unreality of characters' speech narratives have not only made the novel a complicated puzzle,but also endowed the fiction with a kind of unique artistry.
