Narratology takes a 'possible worlds' approach to fictionality and describes the distance between the actual and the fictional world in terms of a textual typology. From a semantic perspective, possible worlds narratology characterizes genres as a spectrum and leaves room for new ones.Fictionality is unmarked in literary narrative.Generic location presupposes reading convention and interpretive appropriateness.
