On enhancing test fairness

考试作为选拔人才和检查(教与学)质量的一种手段,需要具备公平性以体现社会公正。考试公平性涉及诸多方面,涵盖面广,是考试赖以存在或使用的基础。本文第一部分简要回顾考试公平性的定义和在考试开发过程中的作用。第二部分反思历年来TEM考试的相关研究,以及对考试公平性的推动作用。第三部分从三个方面探讨如何进一步提升TEM考试的公平性。

Tests, as a means for selection and pedagogical evaluation, should possess qualities of fairness in order to maintain and promote societal justice and equality. Fairness covers many aspects in test development and test use, thus forming the very foundation on which a test thrives. The first part of the paper offers a brief review of a few wellknown definitions of fairness in tests and the role of fairness in test development and evaluation. The second part examines the existing TEM-related studies from the perspective of fairness. And the last part discusses how to further enhance test faimess in future TEM tests.
