数词语义的模糊视角与翻译策略

Semantic Fuzziness in Numbers and Corresponding Translation Strategies

数词是精确与模糊的统一,数词的模糊性是语言模糊性在数字层面的具体体现与运用。受不同民族文化影响,数词的模糊性也存在很大差异。文章对英汉模糊数词的文化内涵和语用功能进行了对比研究,认为不同民族对特定数字的"青睐"必然给翻译带来障碍,对于模糊数词的理解和翻译必须以语境为依托,不能拘泥于字面数值,而应细心捕捉其文化内涵,才能真正实现等值翻译。

Numerals are the combination of exactness and vagueness.Fuzziness of numbers is an example of language fuzziness in use.However,because of cultural factors,numerals also differ in semantic fuzziness.This paper makes a contrastive study of fuzzy numerals both in English and Chinese,especially their cultural connotations and pragmatic functions.Besides,the author points out that different ＂preferences＂ for different numbers in different cultures will certainly bring trouble to translation,so how to render numbers fuzzy in meaning from one language to another is also the focus of discussion in this paper.
