论英汉思维方式的差异对翻译的影响

On the influence of the differences in thinking modes between Chinese and English on translation

语言和思维相互影响,语言是思维活动的外壳,也是思维进化的主要工具。但是,思维决定语言,是语言的基础,语言依赖于思维才有其内容和表达。思维方式的不同决定了英汉两种语言结构与表达方式的不同。这就要求译者在翻译实践中以目的语读者的思维方式为参照依据,注重不同民族思维之间的共性和个性,在英汉翻译中转换思维方式,采用不同的翻译策略,努力将原文中所包含的思维方式和文化特质表现出来。

Language and thinking modes are interrelated.Language is the shell of thinking as well as the tool with which thinking evolves.But thinking determines language,i.e.the basis of language,and language has to rely on thinking for its content and expression.Therefore,differences in thinking modes will unavoidably lead to the differences in language structures and expressions,which demands that translators should base different translation strategies on the thinking modes of the target language readers,pay attention to the universality and individuality of different thinking modes,transfer ideas from thinking modes of the source language to those of the target language and give a true reflection of the thinking modes and cultural elements carried in the source language.
