A New Paradigm on Understanding the Current International Monetary Order——The Revived Bretton Woods System

近年来,Michael Dooley,David Folkerts-Landau,Peter Garber等学者在讨论当今不平衡的国际经济货币秩序时,提出了所谓"复活的布雷顿森林体系"范式。他们认为当今的国际货币秩序本质上就是"二战"后布雷顿森林体系的延续(或者说是"复活"),只不过是在某些方面作出了适应性的调整,它反映了当今国际经济货币秩序的现实。与早期布雷顿森林体系相比,这一新的制度在内涵、基本特征、以及对当今国际经济货币关系的影响等方面都具有新的表现形式。在这一"复活的"秩序中,中国等新兴市场国家成为重要的支撑力量和驱动力量,它们通过政府行为一直在努力维持这一秩序,并借助这一秩序来促进各自国内经济的长期稳定发展。

In recent years, while discussing the global economic imbalance, a few experts including Michael Dooley, David Folkerts-Landau and Peter Garber put forward a new paradigm -- ＂the Revived Bretton Woods System＂ , to explain the current international monetary system. In contrast to the Bretton Woods System built after the World War II, they don＇t think that today＇s international monetary system has been changed much. The system is also called The Revived Bretton Woods System, in which, China and other emerging countries are playing an important role, and serve as important elements of propping up the system. In turn, the system also promotes the long term economic growth in these countries.
