Russia has always regarded Central Asia as its 'strategic backyard' and tolerates no challenges on its leading role there from any on other big powers.Through an analysis of its bilateral and multilateral military cooperation with the Central Asian states,the article reveals the main contents and main problems in its military security strategy and military policy there.It also dishes out the way China—while implementing its Western Development strategy—should develop all-directional cooperation with the Central Asian states without damaging its strategic partnership with Russia.
