The research level and prospect of translation studies is mainly determined by its scientific research methodology. Descriptive translation studies （DTS） has gradually replaced prescriptive translation studies which for quite a long time is the focus of translation studies and it has become a new trend. The systematic analysis of the research methodology of modem translation studies can help the researcher further understand the importance and significance of DTS research paradigm, research approach and specific research methods to translation studies and then accelerate the development of translation studies in China.
