摘要 长久以来,意识之"谜"一直是哲学的专属领域。如今情况发生了变化,当代脑科学的最新发展已经开始直接研究意识产生的神经关联物以及动力学过程。但问题在于,今天的脑科学家们对意识研究的最新成果难以达成一致意见。以埃德尔曼为代表的唯物主义者们倾向于把意识等同于特定的神经过程;以李别特为代表的二元论者则坚持认为像自由意志这类的精神现象不能被物理的规律所说明。 Until recently, the mystery of consciousness has been an exclusive domain of philosophy. However, the situation has now been changed. As the latest development, modern brain science has begun to study directly both the neural correlate of consciousness and its dynamic processes. But the problem is that brain scientists can not reach a consensus on the latest achievements. Materialists, represented by Edelman, tend to equate consciousness to specific neural processes, while dualists, represented by Lebit, insist that phenomena such as free will cannot be described by the laws of physics.
