民国时期的英语测试及评价

English became a compulsory subject and was formally taught in large scale for the first time in the republican era in China＇s history, and Christian schools were regarded as the best place to study English by Chinese. It is the aim of this thesis to explore and evaluate English testing in that period based on the papers written by missionary English teachers and English teaching organizations, which were published on The Educational Review, a journal published by The China Christian Educational that although the republican era belongs to pre-scientific era in the history of Association. What is noteworthy is language testing, the cautious and industrious efforts made by those English teaching individuals and organizations still provide enlightenment to today＇s English teaching and testing.
