城市文化是城市社会成员在城市发展过程中所创造的物质财富和精神财富的总和。城市文化具有地域性、聚集性、包容性、选择性、多元异质性、延续性和动态性等特征。城市文化是城市发展的内在驱动力量,这主要表现为:城市文化是城市经济发展的基础和支撑;城市文化为城市发展、塑造形象和提高品位服务;城市文化是城市特色形成的条件;城市文化有利于增强城市的辐射力和整合力;城市文化是城市核心竞争力的源泉。

Urban culture is the total of material and spiritual wealth created by the members of urban society in the process of urban development.Urban culture is regional,aggregative,inclusive and selective,multiple heterogeneous and dynamic.Urban culture is the inner driving force of urban development,mainly embodying in the following three aspects： 1） it is the basis of urban economic development and support,shaping the image of urban development and improving the living quality;2） it is a component of urban characteristics;3） it is a core competitiveness of the city,enhancing the radiation force and the integration of urban development,and etc..
