《红字》是霍桑最重要的一部长篇小说,它以17世纪北美清教徒殖民统治下的新英格兰为背景,反映了政教合一的殖民统治对女性的迫害。文章试从女性主义的角度来分析女主人公海斯特.普琳女性意识的觉醒。
The Scarlet Letter is one of the most important novels made by Hawthorne.It has a background of the New England ruled by the Puritan of North America in the seventeenth century.It shows the persecution to the female under the colonial rule combined by church and state.This article tries to analyze the awakening of the feminist consciousness of the heroine Hester Prynne from the angle of feminism.
