The Development Route of Marxism in China Characterized by the Time

改革开放30年来中国特色社会主义道路的实践,越来越显示出普遍的意义。在这样的实践基础上,十七届四中全会首次提出了推进马克思主义时代化的命题。这意味着,当代中国共产党人在新的历史条件下所要承担的时代使命。长期以来,中国共产党理论创新的基本任务,是使马克思主义中国化。时代化建立在中国化的基础之上,并且赋予中国化新的和更高的要求。这是一个更为艰巨、更为伟大的任务。这一命题的提出,标志着中国特色的社会主义道路的实践和理论创新都进入了一个新的阶段。中国共产党必须加大理论创新的主动性,既要解决中国实践深层次的问题,也要回答人类的命运和世界历史的方向等普遍性问题。

The universal significance of 30 years＇ of socialism characteristic of the Chinese style since the implementation of reform and open-up policies becomes more and more prominent. Based on this practice, the fourth plenary meeting of the 17tb CPC Congress proposed for the first time the proposition of promoting the development of Marxism in China characterized by the time. This is the mission of the Chinese Communists in the new historical situation. For a long time, the basic task of the theoretical innovation for the Communist Party of China has been pro- motion of localization of Marxism in China. It is based on this task that a higher requirement is built up, that is, the mission of developing Marxism characterized by the time. This is a more de- manding task, and a greater one, too. The author maintains that this proposition signals the arri- val of a new phase of the practice and theoretical innovation of socialism characteristic of the Chi- nese style. Therefore, the Communist Party of China should make more efforts in theoretical innovation not only to solve problems arisen in the Chinese practice, but also to respond to the universal problems of the fate of mankind as well as the development of world history.
