This paper discusses the factors affecting the safety of tailings dam and determines the content of the safety monitoring system.Especially the principles of the system selection,hardware selection and software development is described;an automatic safety monitoring system based on Internet and Intranet for tailings dam in concentrator is designed and developed.The practicability and effectiveness is proved through its application in the project.It can offer a reference for researching and developing tailings dam security monitoring system.
